When editing there are a lot of programmes that can be used to edit. “Adobe Premier Pro” is one of the most popular choose because it is easy to use. When starting up a “Premier Pro” project you need to use the appropriate format for your location. For example if you are in the UK you need to use the PAL Format because it is comparable with the British computers and televisions. Another thing that needs to be checked is the format of the file being uploaded are comparable with the project. For Example you can choose from standard or wide-screen setting and either 32 or 48kHz. After you have set up the appropriate format you need to name the file or project. This is so you can recognize it when its saved. You also need to save the file in the appropriate place so its easy to find and so all the other files concerning the project in the same place and easy to access.

Once your project has all been set up you need. There are two ways to import files the first is to go to the file and click import. The quicker way is to right click in the file bin and click import and import them that way. “Premier Pro” has a great import set up because when you import the files they are not directly imported into the time line so if you delete a clip a from the time line you still have them in the file bin.

The files that are imported must be changed to MPG so they can be imported. This is because so all the file formats are the same. Also MPG is the only file format that can be edited in “Premier Pro” this also allows all the clips to be edited in the same format and project file. When editing you need to put the clips that you are planning to use on your time line. The quickest way to do this is to just put all usable clips from the file bin onto the time line in no particular order. After you have imported all your files and placed them on the time line you can arrange them. To rearrange the files you drag them along the time line and place them where you need them. This is an advantage because if it the clip is not where you want if you can move it quickly. The disadvantage is that arranging the files can be very time consuming if you have a lot of clips. After arranging your files you will find that you have some open space in between clips. The best way to get rid of this is to right click and select “delete”. This is an advantage because it save you a lot if time moving all the clips. The disadvantage however is that once the space had been deleted it you want to then move some of your clips around you will have to mover all the clips to make room.

On the time line you will see that there are three video channels and three audio channels. As the channels go up they become more dominant for example channel two is dominant over channel one and so on. These extra channels are mostly used for effects and fazing They can also be used to help cuts run smoothly by making the same sound run over two or more clip to create the illusion that it is all one. This is advantage because it helps create the illusion of a smooth running film. Effects such as fazing in and out can be used in shows such as children's drama. This is to help show the children when there is a change of scene so they do not get confused. Also in most drama's and show they use fast cuts to help the story move fasted and create suspense This is done by cutting small clips together over a short time. Another effect used is speeding up of a clip. This creates the effect of time, objects or people move faster, for example you could make a person move faster and make it look like a super power. When creating any television show or film you always need opening and closing credits. This is done by using effects control on the screen and selecting the titles and credits editing tools to add the text over the video clips. This helps credit the actors, crew and funders of the show or film.

Throughout the editing process there are many different tools used to create a smooth running film. One of the main tools is cutting. Cutting is when you remove a part of clips so they can link together for a smooth running video. When arranging the clips the courser tool is used. It is use to put the clips in order but left clicking and dragging the clips to when you want them. Another tool used when arranging clips is the “delete” tool , this tool can do two things. Firstly it can delete unwanted clips by right clicking on the clip and selecting “delete” this is the quickest way to delete any clip. The second use is to delete and open space. Again you high light the open space, right click and select “delete”. This allows you to link clips together. The last important tool used is the zoom tool. This tool allows you to use only a certain part of the clip such as a character or object that has not been zoomed into on the actual clip. All these tools are used to create the illusion of a smooth running video. There are to sources in “Premier Pro” where you can watch the videos on your project. On the left on the screen is where you can view the video clips from your file bin and the screen on the right is where you can view your whole project time line by moving the red vertical line along the time line and pressing play.
