  COPYRIGHTS AND HEALTH AND SAFETY

#healthandsafety
Copyrights are very important because it protects all and any of your work from being used without your permission or in other words being stolen. One way of putting copyrights on your work is by for example by printing out script and sending it to yourself. The will provide a reliable date and time stamp as long as you do not break the seal. Even though all your work is copyrighted this can ensure that if needed you can prove it is your work in court. You can use the unbroken seal to back up your story. Another simple and effective way to copyright your own work is to just put a small “c” with a circle round it and putting your name and the date on it. For example every script in “The Sarah Jane Adventures” will have copyrights on it and so will the logo of the show.
Work hours of young actors are also very strict. A letter is needed from he local authorities for a young actor to perform in any film. This must include a medical certificate and the hours they will be working. They will also need a tutor so they can continue their education on set so it doesn't disrupt it and so they stay on track. For example all the actors under sixteen on “The Sarah Jane Adventures” will need this licence and on set tutor so they can work and continue their education. Child actors can also only work a certain number of hours because of their age. If the children do work over this it would be classed as child exploration and would be illegal
Another health and safety requirement is on set safety. This includes things like wires on the floor, fire safety and hazard safety. Wires on the floor can very dangerous because people can't always see them and can sometimes trip and hurt themselves and sue the company. For example camera wires which are sometimes attached to moving cameras and catch peoples legs from behind. Still wires can simply be solved by putting thick tape on them to keep them still and stop them from snagging and catching peoples feet. Also fire safety is a large part of health and safety. There needs to be a fire extinguisher in each room and sometimes more than one depending on the size of the room. There also needs to be smoke detectors in every room and again if it is a lager room more than one is required to make sure that everyone on staff is safe and know where the fire exits and assembly points are. In case of any hazards or accidents it is required that there is a first aid trained member of staff in case of any accidents no matter how small.
When filming two things that are also very important are stunts and location work. When doing stunts it can be very dangerous because it could consist of things like jumping of building and fight scenes. They use stunt doubles so the actors don't have to do there own stunts this is because if the main actor of the film did a stunt that went wrong and for example broke their leg they would have to stop filming because most of the scenes have them in . Were as if the stunt double hurt themselves they would be able to get another one and continue filming. Also when filming on location the producers and location managers need to make sure they have permission to film there otherwise they could get arrested. They also need to make sure they have all the equipment they need. For example if there are no electricity they will need a generator because the cameras and equipment will need electric to work and film. All of these thing are required in the health and safety and copyrights.
